Description: This is an outstanding example of a desirable and rare beaded vest. This is very much an above average piece, executed by a talented beadworker. The background is light blue with geometric images in green, black, yellow and red, trimmed in orangish-red. The designs are typical Lakota Sioux. Beads indicate that the piece was made Circa 1890 - 1910. There is one very small loss at the bottom of the right armhole, where a small amount of hide with beads is missing. Overall it is good condition for a piece of this age and size. It is lazy stitch beading throughout on a Native-tanned elk hide and it is all sinew sewn.
Maker: Plains, likely Lakota Sioux.
Approx Age: Circa 1890 - 1910.
Size: Measures 18-1/2 inches long and it would be a typical man's size vest.
Condition: Pretty good for its age. Normal wear and minor imperfections expected. Please look closely at the pictures as they are an important part of our description.
