Description: A great old handmade hitched horsehair bridle that comes with the story (letters from the time period) that it was made about 1900 by "Little Whirlwind, a Cheyenne Indian serving time in Deer Lodge Prison in Montana." It is hand braided using multi-colored (brown, white, blue and orange) horsehair with geometric designs. It has long (7 foot) hand braided split reins. This headstall also has an antique bit on it that would be from the same general time period. This is a good looking old horsehair bridle and the letters in the last two pictures (which tell the story of its history) are included with the bridle. You should blow the pictures up and read them.
Maker: The headstall comes with a letter which attributes it to "Little Whirlwind, a Cheyenne Indian serving time in Deer Lodge Prison."
Approx Age: Circa 1900.
Size: Headstall is a standard large horse size and the bit has a 4-1/2 inch mouth piece and is 7 inches long overall.
Condition: Good for its age. Normal wear and minor imperfections expected. Please look closely at the pictures as they are an important part of our description.
