DESCRIPTION: Presented for your consideration is this great old bit, which the engraving and style suggests it was Tapia made. The bit has classic style shanks accented with silver inlays and high domed, scalloped edge conchos. It has a medium port mouth with a copper "cricket" and rein chains. Jose Tapia didn't mark his work and Jesus Tapia marked very few of his pieces. However the quality of the their work is easily recognized by knowledgeable collectors and this bit is attributed as being one of theirs.
MAKER: Unmarked but attributed to Jose Tapia (1831-1902) or Jesus Tapia (1856-1931).
APPROX AGE: Circa early 1900s.
SIZE: It has a 4-1/4 inches mouth piece and the cheeks measure 6-1/2 inches top to bottom.
