DESCRIPTION: Presented for your consideration is this rare Tapia horse bit. This old bit is uniquely stylistic with curved shanks accented with silver inlays and high domed, scalloped edge conchos. It has a halfbreed mouth and original rein chains. Jose Tapia didn't mark his work and Jesus Tapia marked very few of the pieces. However the quality of their work is easily recognized by knowledgeable collectors and this bit is attributed as being one of theirs.
MAKER: Unmarked but attributed to Jose Tapia (1831-1902) or Jesus Tapia (1856-1931).
APPROX AGE: Circa late 1800s to 1900.
SIZE: It has a 5 inch mouth piece and the cheeks measure 7 inches top to bottom.
