DESCRIPTION: For your consideration here is an I-XL (I Excel) bowie style knife by George Wostenholm and Son. This great old knife comes with the original scabbard and has an ivory handle (which appears to be original). This knife was made at Wostenholm's "Washington Works" shop in Sheffield, England. The maker's mark on the blade gives us a likely date of manufacture of between 1848 - 1875. This is a great old original knife with moderate use showing.
MAKER: George Wostenholm and Son.
APPROX AGE: Circa 1848 to1875.
SIZE: Blade measures 5-5/8 inches and overall it measures 9-1/2 inches.
CONDITION: The knife is pretty good for its age, normal wear expected, and the sheath does show signs of wear. Please look closely at the pictures as they are an important part of our description and are hereby incorporated into the description, specifically with regards to condition.
