Why host Benefit (charity) Auctions?

Reasons we occasionally host Benefit Auctions
Over the years we have hosted several benefit auctions for local organizations and also ones with a broader scope such as the Free Indian Market Benefit Auction or the Cowboy Arts and Gear Museum Benefit Auction.
So what is a Benefit Auction?
An event where items or services are offered to raise funds for a good cause or nonprofit organization. The highest bidders not only win the items, they are also supporting the organization's mission.
Why do we offer assistance as an auction company?
There are many reasons. For efficiency we have organized a list of our top 3.
1) Supporting A Cause We Believe In
The Benefit auctions we participate in generally support the continuation of the Western lifestyle in some way or another. This is close to our hearts.
2) Giving Back To The Community
Having been in the Western industry for our entire lives, we want to give back to the community we love and cherish.
3) The More You Give, The More You Get
We learned a long time ago that by assisting others and helping to enhance their platforms, it helps grow the community as a whole. The more attention brought towards the lifestyle, the more this ensures the continuation of, not only our business, but all others like it.
Bonus: Pet peeves.
1) Raising funds in the name of Charity, but not being Charitable
There are always some rotten eggs out there. Charities can be big business. Be sure the one you are supporting is actually using the money for the stated mission. Not to line the pockets of a few organizers.
2) Cheap Bidders
We completely understand wanting to get an item for the least amount possible. However, if you are attending a fundraiser event where you believe in the cause, give a little extra!
3) Assuming an auctioneer should work for free.
Remember, most people who are professionals at raising money for charitable organizations have expenses just like anyone else. Instead of asking an auctioneer to work for free, tell them you are not sure how you are going to pay them. It's almost a guarantee that a true professional will figure out, not only how to get some sort of payment to at least cover expenses, but also how to make the organization more money at the same time! After all, that is what they do! Ask them for suggestions.
