DESCRIPTION: Offered for sale in this lot is a Depression era Santo Domingo tab necklace. At Santo Domingo Pueblo (now Kewa Pueblo), the Natives became very resourceful during the 1930s and began producing jewelry from whatever materials they could find. This type of necklace would have been made by a Santo Domingo mosaic artist using materials (from various sources), turquoise chips, and hard rubber or black battery cover, etc. to create a wonderful thunderbird design and accenting tabs. It is strung on a waxed cord. This is a neat piece of history to add to your collection.
