Offered here for your consideration is a huge butterfly themed Seri basket that earned its weavers a pickup truck in return! This is possibly the largest known Seri basket, and is so tightly woven, it sounds like a drum when you thump on it!
The Seri indigenous people reside in Sonora, Mexico. They are hunters, gatherers and basket makers. Each basket has a deep meaning and their work is mostly done before dawn due to heat and humidity prevalent in the region. This lovely basket is a perfect example of their skill and the beauty of their baskets, with its prominent butterfly and saguaro designs, as well as the diamonds and other designs around the upper and lower portions of the basket. Included are pictures of the truck the weavers received for weaving this and the makers of this great basket. Add this very special basket to your collection today!
