Description: A great handmade sterling silver and turquoise headstall with fine details and stamping in the silver work. The brow band has a dangling "naja" in the center. The naja is enhanced with turquoise stones and there are horsehair tassels accenting the bridle at the throat latch on each side. Hanging on the headstall is a great bit by Edwardo Grijalva. Edwardo was a well-know bit and spur maker from Magdalena, Sonora Mexico. Edwardo has since passed on and the family still carries on the Grijalva bit and spur making tradition, marking them with the EG* hallmark. To this day their bit and spurs are highly sought after. This is a great chance to own a wonderful Navajo Bridle with a great bit!
Maker: Headstall is not marked that we could see. The bit is hallmarked EG*.
Approx Age: Both are vintage items, probably from about the 1960s - 70s.
Size: Bit has a 5 inch mouth piece and is 7-1/5 inches long overall. Headstall is a pretty standard size and appears to fit a large horse.
Condition: Good for its age. Normal wear and minor imperfections expected. Please look closely at the pictures as they are an important part of our description.
