DESCRIPTION: Presented for your consideration is this great old bit made by Juan Francisco Echavarria for F.M. Stern! It may look familiar -- that's because it is the actual bit published on P. 198 of the "Bit and Spur Makers in the Vaquero Tradition" book by Ned and Jody Martin. The "Kissing Bird" design cheek pattern is frequently seen by various makers from this era. This one has nice cheek embellishments with silver overlays, domed conchos and chased iron designs. It has the original slobber chain and rein chains. This is a very good looking bit overall. The bit is hallmarked on the inside of one cheek, Warranted Norway Iron, FM Stern.

MAKER: J.F. Echavarria for F.M. Stern.

APPROX AGE: Early 1900s.

SIZE: The bit has a 5 inch mouth piece and the cheeks measures 6-5/8"long.

CONDITION: Good for its age, some wear and normal aging expected. Please look closely at the pictures as they are an important part of our description and are hereby incorporated into the description, specifically with regards to condition.
