DESCRIPTION: This is a beautiful and unique horse bit for your consideration. According to sources this bit was made by Maynard Strandberg, a Montana maker from Ryegate (marked FINO and an S). This pierced cheek bit has a unique style and a halfbreed mouth. The conchos appear to be old Chinese coins or tokens. Standberg was a part time bit and spur maker who supposedly only made about 60 bits during his 89 years on this earth and he developed a local folowing which spread over time. Provenance - From a Montana collector's collection.
 
MAKER: Maynard Strandberg (1913 - 2003).
 
APPROX AGE: Vintage, probably 40 or 50 years old.
 
SIZE: It has a wider than usual 5-1/8 inch mouth piece. It is 9-1/2 inches long over all.
