DESCRIPTION: Presented here is a great old "Kissing Birds" style spade bit. It has the original rein chains, which rarely happens on bits 100 plus years old! It has nicely engraved silver work on the slobber bar and cheek pieces. The engraving and style strongly suggest it was made by one of the Hernandez. Research suggests there were 5 Hernandez who made bits and spurs which were sold through various retailers such as Visalia, Main and Winchester, F.M. Stern and L.D. Stone.  They were rarely marked. This is a nice old spade bit in very high condition and would make a great addition to any bit collection.

MAKER: Unmarked, but attributed to Hernandez.

APPROX AGE: Circa late 1800s to early 1900s.

SIZE: It has a 4-1/2 inch mouth piece. Overall it measures 7 inches on the cheek pieces.

CONDITION: Very good for its age, minimal wear expected and present. Please look closely at the pictures as they are an important part of our description and are hereby incorporated into the description, specifically with regards to condition.
