Offered here for your consideration is a rare pair of iron #6 E.F. Blanchard spurs with Indian Head coins on the outer swing buttons. Blanchard's designs are unique to him in terms of the profile and this pair is indicative of his style with wide heel bands and short shanks hosting the six point handmade rowels. The wide spur leathers are made by Tracy Hildreth. Blanchard spurs are pretty easy to identify and are highly sought after by collectors, especially ones like these from Iron (instead of stainless) and with Indian Head coins on the buttons. MAKER: Marked #6 E.F. Blanchard, Yucca, Ariz (stamped). Ed Blanchard was a cowboy and spur maker who lived and worked in New Mexico and Arizona through his life. Blanchard worked only by hand. The leather straps are hallmarked T. HILDRETH, MAKER, GUNNISON, CO. Tracy Hildreth.
APPROX AGE: Circa 1960 on the spurs and modern on the leathers.
SIZE: The heel opening measures 3 1/8 inches across, the bands measures 1.5 inches wide and the shanks measure 2 inches long.
