Offered here today is a nine strand Heishi jocla necklace by Mary Coriz. This grand Santo Domingo necklace features nine strands of white Heishi beads strung on waxed cord. Two beautiful joclas of turquoise beads in graduated sizes with spiny oyster accents complete this piece. The neck is conjoined by a nice brown Pueblo wrap. Jocla is the Navajo word for "ear string". The Navajo and Pueblo natives would often wear all their jewelry for safekeeping. Their extra “ear strings” or earrings, were often tied to the bottom of their necklaces. Later, this evolved into a popular necklace style. This necklace is one you will wear or many years to come, and a great add to any collection.
