Offered here for your consideration are a rare pair of Jerry Cates OX marked spurs. These double mounted beauties are decorated with engraved silver diamonds along the outer heel bands and rectangles along the inner heel bands; nicely incised silver plates highlight the shanks as well. The spurs exude quality and workmanship. Born in Texas, Jerry Cates worked as a cowboy and a brand inspector. He made his first spurs in 1960 and, in 1969, he began both working with Bill Handley and took up spur and bit making full time. His pieces made in collaboration with Handley were all marked OX.
