Offered here for your consideration is a bronze titled, Rather Fight Comanches, by Vic Payne. In this finely detailed sculpture a grizzled old hand has just dropped into a barber's chair, saddle bag dangling from his left hand and six shooter across his lap. This cowboy does not like barbering so he proclaims that he would "rather fight Comanches". Presumably the barber proceeded cautiously. A humorous and finely rendered scene from day to day life in the old west. Numbered 5/250.
Vic Payne is the son of famed western sculptor, Ken Payne, and father of up and coming sculptor, Dustin Payne. The sculptor's childhood on a ranch and love of old west lore is expressed in his detailed and moving sculptures of people and animals engaged in everyday life, both the struggles and the joys.
