This phenomenal historic bracelet features the hallmarks of both Preston Monongy and Jesse Monongye. This bracelet features a 14K gold Native American dancer with a variety of inlays including etched onyx for the hair, tiny dot turquoise for the bracelet and belt, and onyx, coral and others on the white background (possibly white onyx). Facial features on this dancer are created with turquoise, mother of pearl and onyx inlays with a braid of coral, turquoise and other bead inlays surrounding another etched black onyx rectangular inlay. Other various coral and turquoise settings accent the piece. The other end of the bracelet features two bear overlays with turquoise, coral and other inlays. Highlighting both designs is a row of lapis, turquoise, coral, onyx and other inlays. 14K gold leaf appliques and a Sunface inlay accents complete the settings that are displayed on a textured sterling silver cuff. MAKER: Hallmarked JMONONGYAS (stamped), the Peyote bird with a P between the tail and the wings on an applied silver plate and the Peyote bird with a J between the tail and the wings on an applied 14K gold applied plate. Jesse Monongye (1952 - 2025 Navajo/Hopi). Active since 1970s. Learned the art of silversmithing from his father, Preston Monongye and has gone on to become a multiple award winner. Preston Monongye (1927-1987; Mission/Hopi adopted). Active 1960s to 1987. He was a master artisan adopted by the Monongye family in Hopi. He has won numerous awards for his "new Indian art" designs and worked for Tanners Indian Arts and Crafts Center until he moved to Phoenix in 1972. In the mid-1970s he taught silversmithing at the Phoenix Indian Center.
APPROX AGE: Vintage (meaning somewhere between the 1930s to 1970s).
SIZE: This bracelet measures approximately 5 inches from end to end on the silver, and has a 1 1/4 inch gap (fits a 6 1/4 inch wrist). It measures 1 7/8 inches wide at the widest part, and the total weight is 117.4 grams.
