Famous Wolverton Stage Coach Used In Tombstone 1993 And Many Other Movies

Offered here for your consideration is a very famous stage coach that was used in Tombstone, the 1993 movie and many other movies, TV shows, etc. over the years. This coach was built in 1975 using the bones (iron parts) from a wrecked coach previously used by Buffalo Bill Cody in his Wild West Show. It was a "Shasta" 12 passenger coach which was built by the Abbott - Downing Company of Concord, New Hampshire. In their 52 years of business, only 25 of these were ever made, and none are known to survive today, making this possibly the only example left. It features a restored body with decorative scrollwork and landscape panels, red framed windows, leather side curtains, a leather front boot and rear and an iron roof luggage rack. The interior is upholstered in deep red tufted fabric and features 3 rows of passenger seats. The coach was used in several Western movies including Calamity Jane, Wild Wild West, Stagecoach, and Tombstone. It was also in numerous TV shows, commercials and other appearances. With its documented history, and one of a kind appearance, this stagecoach would make an exceptional piece for a Western collection, museum, ranch, or commercial enterprise. MAKER: Constructed by John Frizzell, a historic stagecoach and carriage builder based in Oklahoma, using parts from a wrecked Buffalo Bill, Abbott - Downing coach. Frizzell's stagecoaches have been used at various events such as the Oklahoma State Fair.
APPROX. AGE: The coach itself was built in 1975 made with parts dating back to the Buffalo Bill, Abbott - Downing coach which would have been made in the late 1800s.
SIZE: This coach measures approximately 17 feet long (including the front boot) x 7 feet at the widest point (hubs) x 8 feet tall. The front wheels measure 46 inches and the rear wheels measure 59 inches.
CONDITION: Average for its age with wear and usage, age-related condition issues and various other imperfections expected. It drives, but could use a little TLC if being put back to use.
