Description: This is a gorgeous older bolo tie with a unique look. The inlay thunderbird is raised and set on another piece of onyx or jet, giving it a very cool 3-D effect. It is set with shell, coral and turquoise. Cord is braided black leather with nice sterling silver tips. Tested as sterling silver. This bolo is from the famous, Jewel Box collection. The Jewel Box was owned by Morrey and Honeylou Resnick. They opened in 1949 and were located in downtown Phoenix. Later it was moved to North Central Avenue, until it closed in May, 2006. Over the years, they amassed a large collection of Native American Jewelry. Several of their pieces were photographed in the famous Arizona Highways turquoise issues from the 1970s, including the well-known magazines of the January 1974 issue, the August 1974 issue and the March 1975 issue. Basically, this bolo is "New, Old Stock!"

Maker: Unmarked, but vintage Zuni style and listed as Zuni in the Jewel Box inventory list.

Approx Age: Vintage, circa 1960s (based on style and it has a Bennett, C-31 clasp on the back which was produced from about the mid-50s thru mid-60s).

Size: Slide measures approx. 1 3/4" wide X 1 7/8" long. It's on a 18" braided leather cord with sterling tips. Weighs 41.6 grams.

Condition: Good for its age. Normal wear and minor imperfections expected on used and vintage items.
